In this two-part series, get a behind-the-scenes look at the home / office of award-winning architect Wayne Visbeen
While the previous post in this series detailed the superior functionality of the Visbeen’s live-work space, the following highlights some of the customized features that make it truly unique to them.
Carefully Curated Amenities
Just because people are focusing more on rightsizing doesn’t necessarily mean they are making sacrifices. Now, instead of spending money on rooms or features they don’t really need, homeowners are shifting their spending—investing more money on the amenities that are most important to them.
The Visbeen’s space illustrates this concept throughout, incorporating features such as an all-season porch on the second story, complete with retractable screens and panels, and a third-floor porch with a Napoleon Kensington® Square Patioflame Table and Napoleon Prestige PRO™ 665 gas grill. While the Visbeens opted to minimize their yard for easier maintenance, they were able to incorporate valuable outdoor living space that worked better for their busy lifestyle.
Other amenities the Visbeens invested in to maximize comfort and convenience include an elevator to easily move furniture and other items from floor to floor, custom pull-out walk-in closets by Dovetail Workshop in the master bedroom, and a total of five Napoleon Fireplaces.
Wayne notes, “Incorporating fire features into a space not only adds physical warmth when desired, but it also creates an ambiance that simply cannot be matched by other amenities.”
In Visbeen’s building, a linear Vector™ gas fireplace serves as a transitional feature in the family’s private residence, uniting an open concept kitchen, dining and living space. On the main floor, a more traditional Napoleon STARfire™ gas fireplace surrounded by intricate brickwork welcomes clients into Vision Interiors’ office.
The building also incorporates fireplaces in some unexpected spaces. In the lower level fitness room, two linear Napoleon Allure™ electric fireplaces with custom wood surrounds add ambiance to daily workouts. Finally, a tall, sleek Napoleon Vittoria™ gas fireplace heats the building’s garage as a beautiful alternative to the typical clunky garage heaters.
The Visbeen’s exemplary planning and design has culminated in an efficient, luxurious space that allows them to seamlessly transition from work to home life. View more photos of the space here.
